Virtual Production can significantly simplify the execution of a project, but it can also make things considerably more complicated. This makes proper planning and the right equipment for the project all the more important.

In recent times, I have been involved in a wide range of Virtual Production projects, gaining extensive experience in the field of IBL (Image-Based Lighting). This technology has become even more interesting for filmmakers thanks to VP. It is perfectly suited for projects of this kind, but it is crucial to know how to use the possibilities wisely. I am familiar not only with the impressive image of the technology that many people have in mind when thinking about VP but also with the typical problems that can arise.

That’s why I am especially excited to collaborate closely with Sumolight, as it’s important to rely on the technology and have a manufacturer by your side that almost co-develops the product with the user. It’s great to be able to contribute your own ideas and desires.

Among other things, these three videos, along with a behind-the-scenes making-of, were created in collaboration with my DoP Tom Keller and Sumolight. For anyone wanting to learn more about Virtual Production, I highly recommend Tom Keller’s blog post.
